Walkup has just released the newest edition of Focus on Torts, our firm's quarterly newsletter.  Under the direction of Mike Kelly, we've been publishing our newsletter for 20 years.  In each publication, it is sent to 30,000 law firms across the country (on recycled paper, of course).

The Spring 2008 edition includes articles about the $198 million clergy abuse settlement, in which our four plaintiffs were the first set for trial.  Also presented is an article on Ricky Walker's amazing civil rights case, involving his wrongful conviction, life sentence, 12 years at Pelican Bay, then eventual release and redemption by successfully suing the County of Santa Clara.  There is a piece discussing the selection of 6 of our attorneys as being among the "Best Lawyers in America."

And, of course, we have summaries of other recent cases, including a $9.4 million medical malpractice verdict in Sonoma County and a $3.16 million medical malpractice verdict in El Dorado county.  We also had a birth injury case that was limited by the harsh conditions of MICRA.  In terms of auto and truck accidents, we discuss $1.9 million, $1.139 million, $1.575 million, and $800,000 settlements.  As for construction site injuries, Doug Saeltzer and Rich Schoenberger resolved a recent case for $6 million.  In the area of premises liability, we had $1.56 million, $3 million, and $875,000 cases.  Finally, in the area of government liability, Matthew Davis and Mike Kelly resolved a matter for $3 million for a catastrophic bus injury.  More details on each are available on the Walkup website, as well as in Focus on Torts.
